utterly irrelevant

Terpsichore
Is it possible to think of something that is "utterly irrelevant?" I doubt it, but I don't know.

Back in the day, there was a fad for a while -- just little sillies like...
Q. What's black and dangerous and lives in a tree?
A. A crow with a machine gun.
The fad was good for a smile. Can a smile be irrelevant?

And the question of "irrelevance" raises the same question about "relevance" -- is it possible to think of something that is "utterly relevant?" Utterly?

A man with a red balloon.
A missing left shoe.
Terpsichore.
Flummox.

The opium dens of China sometimes used to refer to its pastimes as "biting the clouds." Is that relevant or irrelevant, both or neither? It's an odd bit of whimsy.

Maybe the key lies in "utterly."

But maybe not, I expect.

OK ... let's get back to the relevant stuff now ....
