In the army, we were instructed to improve our night vision capabilities by not looking directly at an object. Somehow, looking to the side of the pertinent target made it more visible.
I wonder if the same isn't true in spiritual life -- you see better when you stop looking, know better when you stop knowing, understand better when you stop understanding.
Pretty much describes taking yourself out of the picture. Just enjoy the picture.
