If any American wants a sense of what the flag they live under is engaged in in Iraq and doubtless elsewhere, here is a video of an apache helicopter's 'engagement' with several individuals on the ground. People, including two Reuters employees, were killed with the precise lack of caring that military matters demands.
I am not trying to second-guess those who find themselves in what is or what feels like a war-like situation.
It is just enormously sad-making, enraging, shaming, horrifying and ... beyond unspeakable. Murder on the ground is matched by suicide in the air, though no one speaks of the latter. Fly the flag, bury the shame that makes us human.
As with other lessons in ignorance, this one is the same: Don't YOU do that!
